The People vs. Science

I just read this opinion piece in the times by a Case Western Reserve physics professor about the struggle between science and faith in education. Even though I shouldn't have been so surprised by it, one quote from a member of the Kansas School Board really hit me. During a 1999 debate over the removal of the Big Bang theory and evolution from science standards, Mr. John Bacon had this to say about the scientific community:
"I can't understand what they're squealing about. I wasn’t here, and neither were they."
